From the undisputed master of dark comedy comes this electrifying tale of a writer in a fictional totalitarian state who is subjected to a ruthless interrogation when a number of his stories bear a striking resemblance to a series of grisly child murders. A hypnotic blend of savagery, suspense, macabre fairytale, and the blackest of gallows humor, Martin McDonagh’s play is a powerful, potent, and provocative tour de force that will haunt audiences long after the lights have faded to black!

Cast
Katurian (Age 18-35): A writer of gruesome short stories often involving children. A genius with a wild imagination. Despite his taste for the macabre, Katurian is keen to not cause any real trouble. Besides the posterity of his writing, Katurian’s only concern is for his brother, Michal.
Michal (Age 18-35): Katurian’s brother who posesses a childlike innocence. Michal is a year older than his brother, but due to extensive brain damage, he seems more like Katurian’s child than his sibling. He loves his brother's stories and sometimes believes they are true.
Tupolski (Age 25-50): “The good cop” - Sardonic, funny, straightforward, intelligent, controlled. An investigator, less violent and aggressive, but very unfeeling. He is the "brains" of the operation.
Ariel (Age 20-35): “The bad cop” – Explosive, physically powerful, self-righteous, violent, brutal. He has a soft-spot for children, complimented by an extreme hatred of anyone who harms a child. He ends up being more sympathetic toward Katurian and his stories than Tupolski.
Father and Mother (Age 20-50): Play three different sets of parents: (1) Sadistic maniacs intent on creating a great artist through violent means. (2) Loving but confused parents of a little girl with a messianic complex. (3) Foster parents of a troublemaking child who go to extreme lengths to “give her what she wants.”
Girl (Playable age 8-13): Will play young Katurian and girl in stylized story sequences including dance and movement, and mute girl.
