Where do straight women turn when they’ve reached the bottom of the barrel of modern dating? When they find themselves only willing to choose the bear (if you know, you know), what is left for them to do? Queer Camp! When Jennifer escapes her abusive husband and runs away to Queer Camp, she isn’t so sure about the other wannabe Lesbians in attendance. Not to mention the fact that a gay man is somehow supposed to be the one teaching her to be attracted to women. (Make that make sense.) Despite her best efforts, queerness doesn’t come as easily to her as she might have hoped, and when her husband shows up to bring her home, all hell breaks loose. A satirical comedy that points to the absurdity of conversion therapy by sending it in the opposite direction, the play also speaks to the perils of modern dating, the dangers of toxic masculinity, and the need for community and identity.
