The Bartender tends to her customers every day and night, concocting conversation and cocktails just the way the drinkers like them. She pours and pours and pours. Meanwhile, her mother Julia shows up begging the Bartender to read the memoir that she wrote about the time she killed her daughter’s dog. This traumatic childhood experience bares its teeth when the Bartender has to make the decision on whether or not to end a life, reluctantly selecting when it’s time for someone to take their last breath.
