What to Prepare
Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Sides will be e-mailed to those with an appointment. Please bring a headshot and resume and be prepared to list all conflicts for rehearsals and performances May 16 to June 18.
Aryeh Lev (30s – 50s): Asher’s father. Does not accept Asher’s gift. Speaks with a faint Yiddish accent.
Yitzchok Lev (40s-50s): Aryeh’s older brother; Asher’s uncle. Jeweler. Jovial and less serious than his brother. Supports Asher’s gift. Speaks with a faint Yiddish accent.
Jacob Kahn (70s): A famous sculptor and painter. No longer an Observant Jew. Asher’s mentor.
The Rebbe (60s): The leader of the Ladover Hasidim headquartered in Brooklyn. Understands Asher’s gift. His word is absolute. Speaks with a faint Yiddish accent.
Rivkeh Lev (20s - 40s): Asher’s mother. Loves her husband. Loves her son. Traumatized by the death of her brother. Speaks with a Brooklyn accent.
Anna Schaeffer (30s): Art dealer and gallery owner. Promotes Asher’s work. Savvy businesswoman. Loves art. Loves money more.
Rachel (20s): Art model.
NOTE: The role of Asher Lev has already been cast.
Actors will receive a small stipend of at least $350.00.
Rehearsals will start Tuesday, May 16, and be in the evenings, five or six days a week.
